My Approach
At The NP, I believe that the best way to learn is by doing — not by standing on the sidelines. From my experience mentoring Nurse Practitioners, I’ve found that a hands-on approach, rich with direct client interaction, provides a far stronger foundation than traditional shadowing models. Observing without participating often leaves students underprepared for the realities of clinical practice.
That’s why my practicum experiences are intentionally immersive.
Students are fully engaged across all areas of client care, from completing psychiatric intakes to managing medication plans, providing psychotherapy, conducting ADHD evaluations, administering Genesight testing, and more. Each skill is carefully taught, demonstrated, and reinforced to ensure you are prepared for independent, real-world client care upon graduation.
You won’t just learn protocols — you’ll build true clinical confidence. Every interaction, every session is a step toward mastering the art and science of psychiatric care.
In addition, Natalie’s Pearls — practical clinical takeaways — and Grand Rounds sessions with peers add another rich layer to your learning. These components allow you to sharpen your clinical judgment, deepen your diagnostic skills, and collaborate with others who are on the same professional journey.
My goal is to prepare you not just to pass exams, but to excel in practice — to walk into your first role feeling empowered, capable, and ready to deliver exceptional, compassionate care.
